Lawrence Lecture Series: Modern Desert Warfare
Sunday 19th Nov 2023 - 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
On November 19th at 2:00 PM CST (US time zone) David Murphy will offer the third program in the 2023 T. E. Lawrence Society series Lawrence Lecture Series hosted by the US National World War I Museum and Memorial. The title of the presentation is Modern Desert Warfare.
Following the outbreak of the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire in 1916, the British high command organized a military mission – designated Operation Hedgehog – to aid Arab armies in the Hejaz region. Responsible for training and equipping the Arab armies in the field, officers of Hedgehog would also engage in sabotage. Saddle up with Dr. David Murphy as he navigates how T.E. Lawrence, Arab leaders and many other British and French officers formed the basis of desert fighting which is still used today.
This will be a ‘Zoom’ program that is free to society and museum members and to the general public. You may register for it through the Museum’s website at: https://www.theworldwar.org/events/lawrence-lecture-series-modern-desert-warfare Please join us.
