Places:

1. Tremadog  An article by Carol Derbyshire concerning Lawrence's birthplace in North Wales from the #74 newsletter.

2. Kirkcudbright The Lawrence family lived here briefly when he was a small child.

3. Southampton and the Solent. The Lawrence family lived close to Southampton Water during part of his childhood. He returned to the area in 1929 as clerk helping organise the Schneider Trophy race, and again in the 1930s while working on high-speed motor-boats for the RAF. 

4. Oxford. Lawrence lived in North Oxford during his later childhood and youth. He attended school and university here.

5. St. Mawes, in Cornwall. Lawrence is thought to have served briefly in the fort as a boy soldier.

6. In and around London. Lawrence worked at the War Office in the early days of the Great War, and in 1921-2 as adviser to Winston Churchill at the Colonial Office. He wrote the Oxford Text of Seven Pillars of Wisdom in London, and also part of his translation of Homer's Odyssey.

7. Clouds Hill and Bovington page 1 | page 2. Lawrence came to know this area when he served at Bovington Camp in the 1920s. He rented, then purchased, Clouds Hill, the cottage to which he retired after leaving the RAF in 1935. He is buried at Moreton.

8. Cranwell. Lawrence served at the RAF Cadet College in 1925-6. While there, he completed the subscribers edition of Seven Pillars of Wisdom.

9. Lincoln. Lawrence often visited the city while he was serving at Cranwell.

10. Plymouth. Lawrence was posted to Plymouth in 1929 and was based there until 1933.

11. Bridlington. The last few weeks of Lawrence's service career were spent working on RAF boats at Bridlington.
